FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Author, Blogger, and Editor Sarah del Rio joins Women’s Online Magazine and Publishing Company InThePowderRoom.com as Deputy Editor.
ATLANTA, June 3, 2015 – Popular online women’s magazine InThePowderRoom.com (“ITPR”) announced that US blogging sensation Sarah del Rio has joined the In the Powder Room team as Deputy Editor. She brings several years of writing and editing experience to the organization, as well as immeasurable expertise with regards to the tweezing of super-long chin hairs.
A corporate refugee and mother of one, del Rio’s humor writing has been featured on In the Powder Room, Scary Mommy, BLUNTMoms, and the Erma Bombeck Writers’ Workshop. She has appeared numerous times on The Huffington Post’s Best Parenting Tweets of the Week and has contributed to more than half a dozen anthologies, including I STILL Just Want to Pee Alone, the latest in the national-bestselling I Just Want to Pee Alone anthology series.
Del Rio’s humor blog, est. 1975, brings snark, levity, and perspective to the ladies of Generation X, and was named Funniest Blog in The Indie Chicks’ 2014 Badass Blog Awards. In 2015, del Rio’s blog received the further distinction of “Okayest Blog Written While Sitting in a Cloud of Farts,” as awarded without ceremony by her husband and seven-year-old son.
Leslie Marinelli, In the Powder Room’s CEO, said: “We could not be happier to have Sarah on board. She shares our irreverent attitude, dedication to unfiltered humor, and perfectly-executed em dashes. I feel confident that she will help ITPR become the online destination for women looking for hilarious material to read while pooping in Target bathroom stalls.”
Sarah added, “This is exactly the type of opportunity I’ve been wanting. I’ve been a big fan of ITPR for years, and I admire everything about Leslie Marinelli as a humorist, comedian, editor, mixed martial artist, and gluten enthusiast. I just hope she won’t try to get fresh with me because that is super unprofes—LESLIE. FOR REAL. I TOLD YOU TO STOP TOUCHING MY BOOBS LIKE TEN TIMES, WEIRDO.”
She went on to say: “SERIOUSLY, LESLIE. QUIT IT.”
A property of Hold My Purse Productions, LLC, ITPR has been entertaining women around the globe with its bold, brave honesty and humor since its launch in 2009 by founders John O. Morisano and Diane Hayman. Morisano and Hayman both serve on Marinelli’s Board of Advisors. Marinelli acquired ITPR in 2014 after serving for two years as Editor-in-Chief.
Under Marinelli’s leadership the company released its first humor anthology for women, “You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth” and Other Things You’ll Only Hear from Your Friends In the Powder Room, in August of 2013. Marinelli is both a co-author and the editor of this collection, which features original short stories about a variety of womanhood-related topics by 40 popular bloggers from the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Upon its release, “You Have Lipstick on Your Teeth” became a top-rated and best-selling book on Amazon. According to New York Times Bestseller Robin O’Bryant, author of Ketchup is a Vegetable and Other Lies Moms Tell Themselves, “It takes a lot to make me laugh out loud when reading but this book had me cackling…”
Del Rio will help overhaul the site’s submission system, oversee the editorial calendar, act as primary content editor for all of the site’s online publications, and whine incessantly about how Fun Boy Three’s version of “Our Lips Are Sealed” is way better than The Go-Go’s.
Meanwhile, Marinelli will focus on business development, social media, and editing/producing the company’s highly anticipated second humor anthology, “How Can You Laugh at a Time Like This?” She will remain in charge of helping her friends cover up hickeys with make-up and sending “Do you like me? Check yes or no” notes to cute boys.
Marinelli’s husband Jim expressed, “I’m getting really tired of eating frozen pizzas. I hope this Sarah chick can free up Leslie to spend less time sending notes to cute boys and more time cooking real food.”
